DeWalt DCMAS5713X1 54v XR Cordless Brushless FLEXVOLT Split Boom Grass Trimmer
Part of the XR Flexvolt Landscaping range, DeWalt's DCMAS5713X1 is a powerful cordless grass trimmer which runs on a 54v Flexvolt battery, but the grass trimmer head can also be swapped out for other attachments in the Flexvolt Split Boom system, which include a brush cutter, hedge trimmer and pole saw. The split shaft design not only allows for different attachments to be mounted onto the tool, but also enables it to be dissasembled and packed down to save space during storage or transportation.
The DCMAS5713X1 has an energy efficient brushless motor which lets you get more work done per battery charge- with a fully charged DCB547 Flexvolt battery, the tool will run for up to 50 minutes. Compared with conventional petrol powered landscaping tools, battery power means less noise, no fumes, less mess and no flammable liquids to transport. All of which means the DCMAS5713X1 is a user friendly option which is also ideal for use around noise sensitive areas such as schools and hospitals.
The DCMAS5713X1 uses 2mm line and has a 380mm cutting diameter. The Quick Load, Bump Feed head ensures frustration-free loading and feeding of fresh line and variable speed control gives the operator greater flexibility on different types of terrain.
The DCMAS5713X1 runs on Flexvolt batteries which are compatible not only with other 54v Flexvolt landscaping and construction tools but also with the smaller DeWalt 18v XR power tools. When used with an 18v tool, Flexvolt batteries enable much longer runtimes, making them ideal for demanding outdoor applications.

Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. DeWalt Flexvolt
DeWalt 54v Flexvolt is the new DeWalt dual voltage system. A 54v Tool can only use 54v batteries, however your new DeWalt 54v Flexvolt battery is fully compatible with all DeWalt 18v Li-ion Power Tools as it is capable of stepping into 18v mode for this purpose.
So upgrading to 54v means you can still make use of your 18v power tool range. 54v batteries are currently available in:
6ah (18v mode) / 2ah (54v mode)
9ah (18v mode) / 3ah (54v mode)
12ah (18v mode) / 4ah (54v mode)
The DeWalt Flexvolt system opens the door to types of tool becoming available in cordless that would never have been considered before such as Table Saws.
