The Kew Gardens Medium Bypass Secateurs are professional-grade pruning shears designed for cutting fresh, green plant stems with precision. Developed through a collaboration between Spear & Jackson and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, these secateurs combine horticultural expertise with over two centuries of British tool-making heritage to deliver reliable performance for gardeners and landscaping professionals.

The bypass cutting action uses a sharp upper blade that passes by a lower blade, creating a clean, scissor-like cut that minimises damage to living plant tissue. This makes them particularly suitable for pruning roses, shrubs, and ornamental plants where clean cuts promote healthy regrowth. The PTFE-coated blades reduce friction for smoother cutting whilst providing excellent rust resistance, complemented by a hard chromed lower blade for enhanced durability in outdoor conditions.

Designed for all-day comfort, these secateurs feature ergonomic handles with soft grips that reduce hand fatigue during extended pruning sessions. The ambidextrous locking catch allows safe storage for both left and right-handed users, whilst the compact 200mm overall length provides excellent manoeuvrability in tight spaces between branches.
