The Makita 191V42-8 is a complete 40v Max XGT battery and charger starter kit designed to power Makita's heavy-duty cordless tool range. This comprehensive power source pack includes two 5.0ah XGT batteries, a fast charger, and a stackable MakPac Type 2 case for organised storage and transport on site.
Introduced in 2020, Makita's 40v XGT platform delivers professional-grade performance through an advanced battery system with impact-absorbing housings and enhanced water resistance. The batteries feature rapid charging capability, with full recharge possible in as little as 28 minutes, minimising downtime between jobs. Two-way digital communication between battery and tool optimises performance and reliability whilst enabling future system updates.
This starter kit is ideal for tradespeople investing in the XGT cordless platform or expanding their existing battery inventory. The XGT system works alongside Makita's 18v LXT range rather than replacing it, and the optional ADP10 adaptor allows both battery types to be charged from the same unit. The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
