Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

The Black & Decker 18v Li-ion System is a range of 18v tools where all 18v batteries of all ah ratings fit all tools, allowing you to buy just a few batteries but as many of the range of bare tools that you need without the expense of a new batteries and chargers each time.

As a complete beginner I can say it's a great purchase. Used it for cutting 2x4 & pallets & easy to use. Good, simple & clear instructions. Light & easy to use. Come with a few labeled blades too!

Only used this jigsaw once so far, but it performed very well. Mainly purchased as I already had a B&D battery but actually seems a quality product for occasional DIY. Also comes with 3 blades which was a bonus.

Very happy with my jigsaw, already had the screw gun and impact driver with two batteries so thought I would take a punt on this. Bought the bare unit, no battery, and I am very surprised how good it is. Realistically this will not replace a corded jigsaw if you have a lot of work to do, but with the 1.2ah battery I am getting about 30 minutes use on 19mms fence slate and 22mms gravel board, 2 batteries = 60mins. And always remember you can get up to 4ah batteries. Arrived within 48hrs from Tooled-Up and at the best price I could find. This is my one stop shop now.

Solid and well made tool and good value for money. Blade holder could be more precise to hold it dead straight but not bad enough to spoil performance of the jigsaw. All in all very pleased with this buy.

Q : Hi, although this is not a deal breaker but where is the jigsaw blade located. No sign of it in the box.
A : Hi Robert, I don't think they usually hide them anywhere out of the ordinary so I would imagine if you can't find it upon opening the box it might be absent. Having just checked the B&D website they do still list this as an included accessory so sounds like you should have got one - if you contact our customer service department or Black & Decker themselves they will hopefully be able to send one out to you if need be.
Q : I'm considering buying 18 v cordless circular and jig saws with 1 4 AH battery, a) are they in stock, b) if I buy the jigsaw and 4 AH battery dose it come with a charger and c) what would be the total price.
A : Hi Frank, you can quickly check if anything is in stock by looking at the ETA underneath the price (once you have chosen any applicable variation from the green drop down menu) - if it is available in our warehouse it should say something like "Order by 3:00 PM for same day despatch". Obviously this changes constantly but at the time of writing the BDCCS18 circular saw without battery or charger is in stock, and the Black & Decker 18v 4ah battery is also in stock. Currently the jigsaw is only available to ship in the kit form that includes a 1.5ah battery and charger. The bare tools aren't supplied without chargers and you don't get one with the 4ah battery but we do sell a range of Black & Decker 18v chargers separately if you need one
Q : Is there a parallel fence saw guide attachment for this jigsaw and if so how is it secured o the face plate?
A : Although Black & Decker don't make any mention of compatible guides for this jigsaw, there are a couple of slots at the front of the base plate which appear to have been designed for one. There aren't a huge range of these available to buy, but they are fairly simple and you may be able to rig up a DIY solution if you don't have any luck finding one.
Q : Does this jigsaw come supplied with blades.
A : Hi Eddie, this jigsaw is supplied with one wood cutting blade to get you started but we have plenty of jigsaw blades in stock if you want to order some more at the same time. One fairly unique feature of this machine is that it takes both T and U shank blades so it should be suitable for pretty much all of the jigsaw blades on our site. P.S to see the included contents of any power tool just choose the battery or voltage option you want from the green drop down menu and it will then show you the contents at the bottom of the description
