An excellent product that does the job very nicely and easily. As I have trouble bending over and also using ordinary shears this product solves all the problems.

I was looking for an alternative to a strimmer and bought these long-handled grass shears. I chose these specific ones based on reviews and the fact that the blades are adjustable (can be set to cut vertically or horizontally). Despite my doubts on how well such shears can work, they do indeed work very well ... and are very comfortable, especially for my back!

These shears are expensive but of excellent quality. There are 5 blade positions which are changed by holding at the base with the blades pointing forward and twisting to the right or left (once for 45 deg, twice for 90 deg). The default is horizontal. So you can cut just the top of the edge or the edge itself at 45 deg or vertically on the inside of the edge from either direction. The down side is that the blades are small - approx 14cm long and a max gap of 7.5cm (at the tips). However, if the blades were larger more effort would be required to operate the handle. On the upside they are sharp and not liable to snag. I am pleased I purchased these.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality. I'm using it to cut back the occasional weed in the back garden and it does a great job. I'm 6 foot tall with a back problem and this means I dont have to crouch or stop :)

Great product, makes trimming edges of our lawn (with railway sleepers on the edges) so much easier. My arms and back ached using the lawn shears we bought first. This is 100% better. Only criticism is I'd like them to be a few inches longer, as I'm 6'2" and have to stoop slightly to use them. Even so, they are infinitely better than normal long-handled grass shears in my opinion.

Looked great, loved that it moved to different angles but just didn’t cut the grass ! The one job it’s supposed to do it failed at. Not sharp . Got refund and a sorry but I’m still without garden my utensil.

The long shear edge cutter was not as robust as I thought it might have been , does not function as effectively As described ! It’s just ok and you need patience when using it Clive

Best feature is allows trimming of grass verge without bending. Feel it is a little pricey for what it is. Build quality is adequate but time will tell...I thought performance was a little disappointing, as any slightly thicker verges and you feel the shears are not sturdy enough. Also, this can only be used for small lengths as any longer stretches can result in blisters of the fingers (as I found out!).

Q : I need these to cut the grass right up to the edge of my decking and patio. From the picture it looks like the wheel will prevent this from happening so you will have a small strip uncut. Is this right or or can you just angle the shears inward as you push?
A : If you run them straight up against a solid border you will probably find there is a narrow strip that the blade misses, but depending on factors such as the length of the grass and the cutting technique this may or may not be much of an issue. This will probably affect all shears of this type (with a wheeled handle) to some degree and a handheld alternative probably gives you better precision control if you think it will be a problem.
Q : It says mechanical are they battery operated? If yes what size, or is it rechargeable.
A : These grass shears are purely mechanical, like a long handled pair of scissors. Gardena do make powered grass and shrub shears which run on rechargeable lithium ion batteries and which can be mounted on to a handle - if you search for "Gardena Shrub Shear" on our website you'll see them all (and if you go into the main "Shrub Shears" category you'll see all the similar tools we stock from all manufacturers)
Q : How heavy is it?
A : Under 1kg - approximately 970g
