The Makita BL1830B 18V 3Ah Li-Ion Battery Pack delivers reliable cordless power for professional tradespeople, supplied as a twin pack for uninterrupted workflow on site.
Each battery charges in just 22 minutes, minimising downtime between jobs. The lightweight, shock-absorbent construction helps protect the battery during the rigours of daily site use, whilst keeping overall tool weight to a minimum.
Built-in Makita Star Protection Technology uses an integrated computer chip to communicate directly with compatible Makita LXT tools. This system continuously monitors operating conditions to guard against overload, over-discharge, and overheating — extending both battery and tool life.
Compared to older battery technologies, Li-Ion cells offer significantly greater working capacity than Ni-Cad equivalents and are considerably lighter than Ni-MH alternatives. They also retain their charge effectively during storage, making them a practical choice for contractors who rotate tools between projects.
These batteries are compatible with Makita DC18RA and DC18RC chargers, and are designed for use with Makita cordless tools featuring a yellow connector plate or the Star Protection System symbol.

The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
