Marvellous bit if kit malewady had batteries etc Gardener wanted £500 to cut down hedge 2-5 inch diameter Im a little lady but i got the job done!! For the price of the saw! One thing i will say it comes with enough chain oil but it wasnt clear so i ordered some too I can sell it now as its only done half a day if i chose to and cash in lol

I bought this as a supplement to my 18" petrol Stihl chainsaw. I wasn't confident that it would cope but it is in fact fantastic. It's light and quiet and deals easily with smaller jobs (I've been using it for cuts of up to about 200 mm. I must say it's a pleasure to do without the noise and the physical strength needed for the Stihl - and without lugging fuel around. I use my old 4ah batteries. They do very well but I think I might invest in one of Ryobi's new 5 Ah jobs. Oh, and I've bought a spare chain in case of mishaps: only £12 for an Oregon one, and I understand that's who Ryobi source theirs from.

Easy from start to finish ordering the product, great little chainsaw. Being told I'd need extra oil to run it (only comes with a small amount apx 1/3) when ordering would have been nice but that's the only downside.

Q : I have a RYOBI 18V OCS1830 chainsaw. The motor spins but the chain doesn't. Brake is off, full 4ah battery. I can spin chain manually with brake off. Any ideas?
A : Not sure what might be causing that issue but Ryobi recommend contacting an authorized service centre for any issues with their chainsaws as repairs or modifications can be dangerous unless undertaken by a qualified service technician
Q : I am interested in the cordless chainsaw and have been looking at the same in the Stihl range. Are you able to tell me the weight of this machine and the cost of a second battery. Sadly our only experience of Ryobi has been bad with a strimmer/brush cutter that we had huge issues getting started and now cannot start it at all, returned to retailer for checking etc to no avail so very nervous about purchasing another Ryobi. Await your response.
A : Hi Jackie, to answer your first question this machine is 3.2kg without battery, so then you just have to factor in the weight of the battery you're using it with. In answer to your second question there are a few different battery options for this machine - currently the cheapest one is about £30 but you can view them all if you check the "accessories for this product" section on the website. In general we find that Ryobi tools have a pretty good reputation and reviews for this product are good but its worth noting they are designed for home use only, whereas Stihl have historically been geared towards professional landscapers. One of the main advantages of the Ryobi system is there are a huge variety of tools available which all share the same battery platform (including very old ones) while Stihl have a much smaller product range which is purely garden/forestry/landscaping based. It's also worth noting this chainsaw is supplied with a three year warranty to cover repair & replacement if needed (Stihl currently offer a 2 year warranty for domestic usage or 1 year for professional use)

This product carries a full 3 year manufacturers warranty covering both faulty materials and faulty workmanship, it does not cover general wear and tear or damage, batteries, blades, bulbs and other consumables. In the unlikely event of a fault the item returned is subject to fair wear & tear and must not have been used beyond the scope of it's design. Please note that cordless products will normally have a shorter warranty of just 1 Year for the battery and or charger supplied.
