The reason I went for this chain saw was that I already have a strimmer and hedge trimmer using the same battery so I now have 4 batteries. The build quality is a bit weak but it will do the job and is a lot quieter than a petrol unit. No two stroke fuel to mix and sore arms trying to start it.

It has proven useful but not as powerful as I'd hoped for. OK for little bits of pruning but that's about all.

This chainsaw, whch I have had for a couple of weeks, has mostly pluses, but a few cons. If it is bought for light work it is excellent. I used it for the branches of fallen trees while the trunks were cut with a petrol chainsaw. Not having a cord of an electric saw or the weight of a petrol one to worry about among branches was really useful. Unless there is only a half hour's work to do, a second or more batteries are essential, with ideally one charging all of the time. They need to be changed when there is just one green light left on the battery as the power falls away. Hence my three stars for value for money as an already expensive chainsaw is made more so with another battery. The chain itself is very good, though like any it has to be sharpened when needed as a saw is generally only as good as its chain. Youtube has lots of clips of how to sharpen if needed. The cons I have found concern the chain oil. It is pretty hungry for oil and the reservoir has to be watched and topped up often. The other thing is the oil leaks, so the cardboard lined shelf where I keep the saw is now soaked in oil. I am hoping this is to do with newness and it will stop at some point. As usual, Tooled-up's service was excellent.

Very disappointed as the run time is about 15 minutes and this is with soft wood. Would have preferred my money back but the supplier stepped back and said nothing to do with us as this is a technical issue--contact B&D under warranty. B&D suggested charging and re-charging may increase run time. So far there is little improvement. B&D have offered to have the product tested by its warranty agent. The problem is that performance data is difficult to translate into reality. It may be that I expect too much based on sales advertising hype. However other reviewers seem pleased. My use is domestic and have used chainsaws for decades. My ten year old Bosch cable chainsaw has amazing performance but the cable is always a problem--especially up a tree! I also have a B&D battery hedge trimmer which is fantastic---I am worn out before the battery discharges. Welcome any feed back as it seems I may be stuck with a very expensive mistake.
