This is good for splitting small dry logs. if the wood is not fully seasoned the blade stick.

This is a well designed and built device. It works both for logs and kindling. It is particularly useful for me as i have extensive arthritis.

I bought the smart splitter when a hand problem meant i could no longer use an axe (temporarily) but my wife (who is 5 foot 1 inch tall and slim) has now taken to using it and has more fun with it than i do - and she has split some big logs with it! highly recommended, and much safer than an axe.

Provided you get a firm wide heavy base to support the rod it works very well, although usually takes a few drops of the weight for larger logs. I used a cut down railway sleeper for the base. the logs need to be cut with a fairly square base to make sure they sit upright.

An excellent piece of kit that comes with everything you need to set it up - apart from a large flat block of wood to mount it on. I bought it to chop up some large logs from several trees i had cut down so if you are doing the same have the tree surgeon leave a suitable sized lump or two (for the future). Very effective in use, easy to set up and works brilliantly. All the family had a go after a weekend lunch and we had great fun! Much more effective than an axe and wedges. I recommended it to a friend who cuts a massive amount of wood and he found it equally as good - and much more neighbour-friendly as it is quicker and quieter than alternatives.
