Great log splitter, light enough to use for a long period without tiring but still more effective than a heavier maul.

Having used axes and splitting mauls for over 45 years, this is easily the most effective axe I’ve used. It is deceptively light - when it arrived I never thought it would be up to the job! I was wrong. It has split huge oak, beech and elm rounds, as big as 750mm diameter and up to 300m deep without problem. It will even split some knotty pieces with perseverance. It rarely gets stuck, and if it does it releases easily. An excellent log splitter. Thoroughly recommended.

Great piece of kit. Not over heavy like a maul but quite capable of splitting nasty, twisted, knotty lumps with a good swing in the right place if you know what you're about and have a block at a good height. Straight grained green wood is a doddle - I was doing hawthorn by pretty much dropping the axe on it. Obviously you need to learn technique - for instance starting at the edge of big logs and working around - don't just smack it in the middle and expect it to fall apart; but logs of 6" hardwood will split with minimal effort. The weight and shape of the head is fantastic - I'm not a big bloke - but it's controllable even on miss-hits. I would still suggest you always wear high leg steel toecaps and gloves that grip well however. The handle is hollow but as tough as old boots, I have over hit a few times and where a wooden handle would have given a massive shock and broken it bounced. Still felt it, mind. Personally I wouldn't bother with the smaller versions, this one is manageable and will deal with just about anything without wearing you out in 15 minutes. Just go slow, take your time and don't get carried away if you've not used a splitting axe before.

This splitting maul is legendary. Price is the best on the web. Web shopping how it should be. What is not to like?
